Finally, Apple officially announced the iPad 2 that is lighter, thinner and faster than the original iPad. The new iPad 2 is 33% thinner and 15% lighter than the iPad. Powered by the new dual-core Apple A5 chip, the new tablet, according to Apple, is 9x faster than old version. While iPad has no cameras, Apple adds two cameras, one on the front and on on the back, to the iPad 2 for FaceTime video calling and photo shooting. The back camera can record 720p HD video at up to 30fps

 

The iPad 2 comes with a 9.7-inch LED-backlit IPS multitouch display with 1024×768 resolution at 132ppi, and fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating. It also packs Bluetooth support, 3-axis gyro, accelerometer, digital compass and ambient light sensor. WiFi-only and WiFi+3G versions are available and the latter will be available in two models, one with UMTS/HSDPA/GSM/EDGE support and the Verizon model that supports CDMA EV-DO Rev. A data. 3G version also includes GPS/A-GPS.

 

With the addition of cameras, the iPad 2 comes with the iOS 4.3 with the Photo Booth app that adding effects to your photos. The iPad 2 will be available in Black and White. It will be released in the US on 11 March, and in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK on March 25.
